Temperature Controllers

Many industries depend on the accurate measurement and control of the temperature of a wide variety of process machinery such as high temperature ovens and temperature-controlled areas and manufactured products including liquids, metals and foodstuffs. Temperature controllers come typically in three basic types: on-off, proportional and PID.

An on-off temperature controller is the simplest form of temperature controller where the output from the device is either on or off. For heating control, the output is on when the temperature is below the set-point, and off above set-point. Proportional temperature controllers eliminate the cycling issue found with on-off controllers. PID controllers provide the most accurate and stable temperature control and is best used in systems which have a small mass which reacts quickly to changes in the energy added to a process.
