A hydraulic valve has been designed to direct the flow of a liquid
medium, which is typically oil, through an hydraulic system. The direction of
the oil flow is determined by the position of a spool. A hydraulic system can
only function by using valves and their specific size is determined by the
maximum flow rate of the system through the valves and the maximum pressure of

Check valves provide medium flow in one direction
only and prevent flow in the opposing direction. A directional control valve is
used to allow the medium to move in a particular direction. Pressure control
valves switch at a certain pressure and flow control valves regulate the flow.
