What are Inverter Drives? 

Inverter drives are sometimes called AC drives, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Variable Speed Drives (VSD), electric drives, and frequency converters.  Inverter drives are situated between the electrical supply and a motor, and the drive is designed to regulate the power and convert it from AC to DC power. 

What do Inverter Drives do? 

Situated between the electrical supply circuit and the motor, these motor drives regulate the incoming AC power supply before feeding it to a motor as DC. Within the inverter drive the input power is regulated and is fed through an inverter circuit converting the incoming power from AC to DC, allowing you to alter the output voltage and frequency depending on what your industrial process demands. Ideal for a huge range of applications from conveyor line speed to controlling the speed of a cooling fan or a pump. 

Most modern motor Inverter drives feature an LED display and are digitally controlled, allowing the user to easily establish and control their parameters. Available in a wide range of sizes from compact to large scale with many featuring additional features such as emergency stop buttons, automatic motor restart and self-diagnostic systems.
