Thermal Interface Materials
A thermal interface material is a material that is inserted between two components in order to enhance the thermal coupling properties between them. A common use is heat dissipation in which the thermal interface material (TIM) is inserted between a heat-producing device, such as a computer processor and a heat-dissipating device such as a heatsink.
