A flowmeter is a sensory device that is used to measure linear, nonlinear, volumetric or the mass flow rate of a liquid or a gas passing through it. Flowmeters typically consist of a primary device, transducer and a transmitter. As fluid passes through the primary device the transducer senses this movement and then the transmitter produces a usable flow signal from the transducer signal.
Flowmeters come in many variants including volumetric flowmeters that measure the volume of fluid passing through. Velocity flowmeters that measure the velocity of a flowing stream, typical examples include magnetic, turbine, ultrasonic, and vortex shedding and fluidic flowmeters. Mass flowmeters measure the mass flow of a flowing stream and include devices such as Coriolis mass and thermal flowmeters. Other flowmeter variants include insertion flowmeters that measure flow at one location in a pipe and flowmeters that measure liquid flowing in an open channel.
Kempston Controls stocks an select range of flowmeters from market leading manufacturers such as ABB and Endress Hauser designed to suit many applications. Give our dedicated sales team a call on +44 (0) 1933 411411 or use the contact form above to discuss your flowmeter requirements.
