Analogue Panel Meters
Analogue panel meters in their most common form are moving coil ammeters and voltmeters that are utilised to display the voltage and current in circuits, displaying that information on a dial with a red moving pointer. Other forms include types which measure rpm, pressure, frequency and there are also digitised versions which present data in an analogue style.
Analogue panel meters typical come in five basic types: Moving coil: Magnetic deflection causes the coil to move when the current passes through it. Moving magnet: The coil is mounted in a metered case, and a magnet moves the needle. Moving iron: An iron needle moves in response to an electromagnetic force from the coil. Electrodynamic: An electrodynamic magnet responds to alternating and direct current movement. Hot wire: Current passes through a wire that expands when heated, indicating low or high ampere levels.
