Magnetic Sensors

What are Magnetic Sensors used for?

With a wide range of applications, a magnetic sensor can be used for a variety of purposes, from position sensing and distance monitoring to checking the speed of devices within an installation.

What types of Magnetic Sensor are available?

Generally, 2 types of magnetic sensors are used in industrial process control applications. One operates on the basis of monitoring changes in magnetic flux density (Hall Effect), the other operates via a reed switch with any changes to the resting status triggering a response.  Other types include magnetic level sensors, fluxgate magnetic sensors, magnetometers and more.

A magnetic sensor is non-contact and low maintenance, immune to vibration, dust and water, this extends its service life and potential application list considerably. Ideal for demanding working environments.
