Safety relays are designed to monitor a process network of machines, guards and other equipment for potential errors or faults to help prevent personal injury, damage to valuable equipment and machinery and reduce potential risks.

If an issue occurs, it’s the job of a safety relay to initiates an appropriate response to control the risk and return the situation to a safe, acceptable level. Safety relays are designed to protect machinery and employees, preventing possible expensive equipment maintenance and replacement. Typical safety relay functions include a controlled pause of machinery to safely stop movement, such as robotic production machines, or as emergency stop mechanism, cutting power to certain machines and processes.
