What are MCCBs?

Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs) are high-capacity reusable electromechanical devices that protect an electrical circuit from overloading or short circuits. Utilised in a wide range of industrial and domestic applications, MCCBs will typically be found in a distribution board providing protection to electrical components within each separate circuit.

What are MCCBs used for?

MCCBs are utilised for general purpose circuit protection to help protect low-voltage distribution circuits as well as motor loads, and they are selected based upon the maximum load current and maximum short-circuit the MCCB has to interrupt safety. If an MCCB is being used as backup protection for a motor its selection will be based on the starting current of the motor.
