ATEX Incremental Encoders

An ATEX rated Incremental Encoder is a rotary electromechanical device with two output signals which issue electronic pulses when movement is detected. Using both of these signals it is possible to indicate when movement takes place and in which direction. ATEX Incremental Encoders only report on changes in position and direction changes and not the absolute position. Incremental encoders report position changes much faster than Absolute Encoders.

The very low latency of an ATEX Incremental Encoder means it can monitor the position of a high-speed mechanism in near real-time making them ideal for precise measurement and control in position and velocity applications. Typical applications include oil and gas industries, wood and flour processing, pharmaceutical, chemical production, etc.
