What are Proximity Sensors or Proximity Switches?
Proximity sensors, also known as proximity switches, are designed to monitor the proximity and position of a product or functional piece of production machinery. The specific role of a proximity sensor is to detect the presence of nearby objects or material without involving any physical contact and ensure your process control and automation application functions efficiently.
What are Proximity Sensors used for?
Whether your automation and control sensing application calls for the detection of objects at close range or at a greater distance or if the material is metallic or non-metallic there’s a proximity sensor for your specific application. Typical installations for proximity switches include, automated production lines that require position and object detection, product inspection and also counting applications. Proximity sensors can also be found in familiar products, such as smartphones- detecting the presence of the user, and in car bumpers detecting obstacles to the rear.
