What is a Cartridge Fuse?

Cartridge fuses are used as safety devices to protect cables and equipment against overloads and short circuits in electrical systems. Cartridge fuses are made of ceramic, porcelain, or glass.

How Does a Cartridge Fuse Work?

Cartridge fuses are designed with safety in mind. They are designed to melt at a certain temperature, or when too much electrical current flows through its thin wire. When the wire melts, it becomes an open circuit, and no electricity flows. This works to protect equipment, as well as lives.

What types of Cartridge Fuse are available?

There are two types of cartridge fuse available:

gL or gG type: Quick cartridge fuses, designed for the protection of cables, lines, and equipment.

aM type: Slow cartridge fuses open with a time delay for motors and transformers.
