RJ45 Connectors

RJ45 connectors are used for the connection of Ethernet cables to computer networking application equipment such as telecommunications and data equipment. RJ refers to Registered Jack which is a standardised network communication interface.

Consisting of modular jacks and plugs, RJ45 plugs can be found connected to each end of an Ethernet cable and they would be inserted into the RJ45 jacks on the device side. RJ45 connectors are easily confused confused with other RJ connector variants such as RJ11, RJ45, RJ49, RJ61 etc. which vary in the number of contacts and physical dimensions.

RJ45 connectors feature an 8P8C configuration which can be used with other connectivity options besides Ethernet, such as RS-232 for example. RJ45 connectors are available in a variety of mounting options including PCB, cable and panel mount and a wide range of LAN categories from Cat3 to Cat6a to suit many telecommunication networking options.
